Photo shoot

I had a great photo shoot yesterday, the light was soft and perfect and I can finally replace a few photos in my shop and add some new designs, it's always great to see the items worn.

First I did a little prop styling

More Dresses Q&A

Dear all!

Thank you for the lovely comments and tons of emails regarding the previous post, here are some more answers to a few more questions that came up:)

 

to Tasha, Julia and Livia 

Q: Do you wear your own Necklaces and Jewelry?

A:Yes, I do wear a select collection of my necklaces and jewelry, but everything gets tested on me and a few girlfriends before it's put out there for sale.

to Lynn, Janet, Olivia and Rachel

Q: Why don't you wear these dresses?

A: I don't wear the pretty dresses for a few reason, first of all I am proud but quite shocked to be 52 years old and these dresses are super pretty and lovely but really for the slightly younger crowd, not to mention I don't fit into any of them...lol...

Here is a little photo styling secret: dresses and clothes used for styling are always tiny, mostly size X-Small and Small (unless they are worn by models and then sizes vary according the model size, but most models wear size Small anyway) the reason for that is that the camera always enlarges the image and big clothes look BIGGER in the photos so proportion wise it's very hard to shoot my tiny roses for example on bigger size clothes, of course in reality they look fantastic on ANY size body:)

 Although most of my jewelry is girly and romantic (probably because I have 3 sons and need a girly outlet...) I myself tend to be more of a minimalist and prefer to wear my simpler looks.

FAQ and Photo shoot Dresses

I had a few of my photo shoot dresses out yesterday, I thought they looked so pretty all together

and here are some answers to FAQ about them:

Q: Are they for sale?

A: No, sorry they are not for sale

Q: Where do you get them?

A: I get them in tons of different  places mostly in and around Burlington like Urban Outfitters, TJ Maxx and Marshall's, various second hand shops and Goodwill. Also when I go to NYC I love places like Forever21 and H&M for inexpensive frilly and romantic pieces.

Q: Are they expensive?

A: No, most of them are under $30

Q: Do you wear them?

A: No, these are for photo purposes only

Q: What do you wear?

A: Mainly black and white and occasionally a touch of color...:)

A Fairytale Necklace

The Fairytale Necklace is new

and was inspired by these amazing colors from the jcrew catalog

I added different folksy jacquard ribbons on both sides that can be removed, but I love the way they look with winter clothing

A little photo shoot

It's been super hectic around here lately, we had family over and a house filled with guests, I love it when everyone comes over, but not too much blogging time left .

I did manage to do a little photo shoot for the new headbands with my lovely 15 year old niece, when we finally got around to taking the photos a day before they left it was rainy and I had no light in the house, so we went out to the garden and did a little "Alice" look...

Thank you all for your good wishes on my Romantic Homes article, it's continuing to be lots of fun!

I just got my plane ticket today and I'll be spending a two week vacation in Israel with my family starting Jan. 15!!!! I haven't been back in a year and I miss them all sooo much, I am very excited!!!

And finally I've been working on new designs and took some new photos today, my model was the beautiful 18 year old Lia my son's Jonathan girlfriend .

NEW WORK Nov. 09

And Now back to business...I've been designing some new accessories these last few days, trying to manage my time between filling orders (yeayy! the holiday season has started here at Nest Pretty Things!) photographing them, blogging, getting new items into my Etsy shop and life, you know, kids, cooking, cleaning, laundry, cooking, kids, laundry, cleaning...

So, first a brand new necklace, photographed here on an antique handmade flannel petticoat I love to display on the white closet door, the necklace is quite long but can be made in any length, it looks very nice in a short version too, you can get it here:

the beads are pink vintage glass and the bird is brass with a little black drop bead, I love pink and black!

 

Next are NEW WINTER POUCHES, most of these pouches are One-of-A-Kind and I won't be making more soon, they are made from beautiful pieces of the softest, many imported corduroys I collected over the years, I used them a lot last year so I have very few pieces of fabric left.  The light was great today and I managed to squeeze in a little photo shoot:
