Local Traditions- Friday Burger Night and music

Autumn is my all time favorite season and we have a lot of local traditions during this time here Shelburne Vermont, we go apple picking at our favorite orchard, we love the Harvest Festival and annual Art Show at Shelburne Farms, on Saturday's we visit our Farmers Market on the green, and now a new local tradition has begun: Friday Night Burger at the Bread and Butter farm (veggie burgers too!) we went out there today to take photos, treat ourself to some of their amazing bread and just hang out and listen to local music.

next week we are off to the orchard!

Still time

It's not too late, in case you are in need of last minute gifting from the Women or Kids shops, we are working hard in the studio with lots of help, here is my sweetie husband on his daily round to the post! starting today All packages will be going out Priority to make it on time for the holiday!

We drove downtown yesterday and took a little break, ate lunch at our new favorite restaurant The Farmhouse  all local organic food, so so good!

Burlington was as beautiful as ever, completely decorated and looks like a classic New England town (which it is...of course) in winter scene out of a movie.

and on a final note, here is our little house nestled in the snow...

Apple picking tour with friends

It's that time of year again, the time we go apple picking at our favorite orchard, some of you might remember last year's longer post about Shelburne Orchard, this year we took our good friends that came to visit us from across the ocean, we love taking our guests to our favorite local places!

we tasted a little of the biggest apple pie ever

 

ahhh... the smell was sooo divine....

 

from there we continued to Shelburne beach, a favorite summer hangout, but I actually like it best on cool autumn days

 

after that it started to rain so we too a quick tour of the gorgeous gardens at Shelburne Farms that are being restored to their old glory

and back home to a warm cup of apple cider with a cinnamon stick..

Another dreamy house

Yesterday afternoon we were invited to our good friends Diane and Tom for dinner, I love going there, they have a gorgeous 200 year old farm house which they bought in a very sorry state and did wonders with!

Situated high up on a hill overlooking the Green Mountains it is so peaceful that you just melt away into total relaxation...

Dreamy House for Sale

If you love houses and are addicted to real estate like me you will love this house! I spent the day yesterday at my friends Linda's house taking new photos of her property, I've blogged about her house here too, it is one of the dreamiest homes I have ever been too, tucked away in Charlotte VT which is one of the prettiest villages ever...think Jane Austen views but in the Usa... rolling green hills and right on the lake.

Anyway, the house is for sale! spread the word, maybe you know someone that want to relocate? if not we can still fantasize right? Vermont is a truly amazing place to live....

Dreaming of Real Estate

So we are officially snowed in and not much to do, can't get out, can't take photos for lack of light...work is back to a normal pace which allows me to to start focusing on new spring designs and I've been sketching away all day until I remembered I wanted to tell you about this:

As it happens two of my absolute favorite houses in the area are up for sale, these are houses I pass by everyday, both are brick, both have massive gardens with gorgeous views and both are way way beyond our budget, but a girl can still dream right?

The first house I love is a big brick house built in 1810 with some newer additions, it's located right here in Shelburne a few minutes away from our home, it's up on a hill and has the most beautiful Weeping Willow tree in it's massive garden, hard to tell from this wintry agent photo but it's really special

 

the back is lovely too and in the summer the garden is simply gorgeous

 

The other house I love is about 10 minutes away in the neighboring town, it's much more expensive and a little too close to the road but it's also a beautiful big old brick home built in 1880 with a fantastic red barn ( a studio perhaps?...) as you can see from this agent's photos

and the views...wow! that's lake Champlain with the Adirondack Mountains beyond

 

No, we are not planning on moving and are very happy in out little ranch, but I do love "real estate dreaming"...don't you????

We are snowed in

It's been snowing for 3 days straight here in Vermont and we are expecting much more today and tonight, outside looks like a set from the movie The Chronicles of Narnia (also my favorite book growing up, along side Ann of green Gables and A Tree grows in Brooklyn). The snow is so high you can barely see the front door!
