I don't do many write ups about designers, mainly because as a fashion and Style editor for so many years I used to do it all the time, I also spend much to much time at the computer instead of at my studio table and I really don't want to get to swallowed up by all the amazing designs and artist out there but when I saw this I literally gasped! Samantha Robinson is an Australian designer based in Sydney, her hand made porcelain products are not available online yet but hopefully soon, but she does have a lovely website, check it out and get inspired:

Bright and sunny

It's amazing how my mood changed this week, the sun is out, I am  having my breakfasts and lunches in the garden, we've been spending time at the lake, and it finally feels truly feels like summer .

I was so inspired by all this sunshine that I designed lots of new bright and sunny earrings for my shop you can find them in my new "What's New" section.

Ball and Chain

Flee market quilt find

I spent this morning walking around and enjoying the sun in our local flee market and suddenly spotted this lovely $20 find with you! it's a handmade quilt, big enough to fit our queen size bed and made with the prettiest fabrics ever!!!  here are a few photos of my new find and if any of you can help me out with some info on this kind of quilt or how old you think it might be I will be more then happy!!! (just heard from my aunt Susan, my quilt is from the late 40's early 50's).

Our Super Budget Kitchen

It's the 2nd year anniversary of our kitchen renovation and for those who are are thinking of renewing your kitchen I thought I would just let you know that we still adore it, it still looks and works like new although with 3 kids and constant cooking it get a huge amount of traffic and use.
Total cost of our IKEA kitchen (without sink and faucet) but including butcher block wood counters and side high table in the photo (all from Ikea):
$2100
Open shelves $200
Grand total $2300!!

Chair project and some garden photos

One of the projects I finished before the boys got back was re-upholstering the living room chair, I didn't do a very good job but it does look a little better then before (the fabric was too thin and very torn), this fabric is a very thick almost canvas like which was very hard to work with , had no flexibility and did not drape nicely, so I had to cut it, pull it, and tack it and I still need to fill up the sit pillow but here is a first look before I work on it some more:

I also took some photos of the garden this morning, evrything is blooming or about to bloom and the veggie garden is really amazing, we are so very pleased with it!

United again

The boys got back on Wed., I was so excited to see them I didn't know who to hug first!!!! it was very dramatic...I must say that although I did have a very interesting time on my own for the first time ever! I was really ready for them to come back home, I can't even start to imagine what it's going to back like in four years when they will all be away in college and our everyday life will be with out them...brrr...
I did manage to clean out and re-do every closet in the house including the linen closet, kitchen drawers, laundry room, fridge etc...it took 5 seconds for the kids closets to go back to their previous chaotic condition...but I don't care! they are home!!! yeayy!!
I also managed to get some work in the last two days, and after making lots of those new lavender sachets I made a few new jewelry pieces..
The first are long chains with gorgeous BIG glass beads and really amazing giant brass caps, I made one on a chunky chain here and one on a thinner chain here, I love the way the mix and match, you can buy them separately or together for a special limited time price here:

I also made a new pair of long dangle earrings using pretty vintage beads set in brass
in great summer colors - pink, orange and mint! yum! they remind me of candy! you can get those here:

Closet Candy

I am very excited to add a new item to my shop!! I am trying to create a well rounded place were one can shop for accessories and home products too, these new 5" square pillow sachets are made with premium super lovely French lavender buds and smell heavenly! I am selling them in bundles of three and I used a mix of 100% floral cotton fabrics.
 
 they come in a bundle of Reds

Greens

and pinks

You can also throw them in the dryer for a lovely delicate scent, one sachets will scent about 8-10 loads! I recently learned that lavender sachets are also a great natural moth repellent!
They make a great hostess gift too!!

Today is my birthday!

Happy birthday to moi...I can't believe another year went by so fast! last year we celebrated my birthday here, and since the boys are all still away I will be celebrating when they get back on Wed., boy do I miss them!!!
