Brooklyn my new favorite place

I am so sorry for leaving you with these silly photos of my shoes for so long...but I've been away for a week in the lovely Brooklyn! with the  boys being away I decided I could take some time off and went to visit my lovely college friend Nora, she lives in Park Slope and oh my...it had definitely become one of my favorite new places! the last time we spent time in Brooklyn  we stayed with friend in Williamsburg which was also great but this time I could totally see us living in Park Slope, beautiful homes on tree lined streets, great local cafes were everyone gathers in the morning, great shops and restaurants, and a minute away from Manhattan, I know it's the absolute opposite from Vermont but after living in big cities all my life I really miss it sometimes.
I didn't take any photos, actually I forgot my camera at home which sort of felt like I was missing a limb... but here is some of the things I did:

Felting exhibit at the Cooper Hewitt, I learnt so much new things about felting techniques, if you are in the area and love felting it's a must!!!
MJ trimmings, got a lot of beautiful trimmings for the winter pouch collection

The City Bakery for the absolute BEST chocolate chip cookie I have ever had!!!! and also a great lunch buffet style.
ABC carpet and Home what can I say? museum like perfection!

H&M, hmmm a little too 80's for me, been there-did that...
Fairway market in Brooklyn it's right on the water, what a view and the best place for a cheap and super tasty lunch!
Ikea in Brooklyn, with a FREE water taxi to and from Manhattan downtown, boy was that fun! I got sheets for the boys and a few things for Jonathan's college dorm room.

I am a little shoe crazy lately, but these were such a steal!!! $14.99 at TJ Maxx!!! and super comfy too!

New Moo tag idea

I had a new idea today on how to double use my Moo cards, I cut them in half using the top part with just my name for wholesale orders and the bottom part for my website and Etsy sales.

I started doing this because when I wholesale the shops and websites want my name with no contact info,  I used to cut out the bottom part and throw it away, but I realized they look very cute in the long and thin version too so  I came out with this...a little more budget friendly...

 

A little house tour

We had an extremely hectic week as always during the last week of school, the main event was our eldest son graduation from High school, he will be off to college in august, I am in total denial and can't even begin to imagine what it will be like around here with him away but I am not even going to go there yet, the summer is long and all three boys and their dad just left for Israel for a month to visit family and friend, they haven't been back there for 2 years and they grew so much, I am sure it will mutually amazing for them to meet there old friends after so long!! This is also the first time ever for me to be on my own for so long, so far it's ok, a little strange, I am focusing on enjoying my time alone, it's a good opportunity for me to re-group and concentrate on moi! I also have loads of plans, starting with NYC next week, catching up on a ton of work and wholesale orders and more then anything massive re-arrangements and closet cleaning all well over due.
I will post photos of all of the above when I start my projects, in the meanwhile here are some photos I took this morning of corners of the house with some new stuff.
starting with an amazing cotton Granny square throw

it matches the colors on the couch in an amazing way!!

Next is a chair I re-upholstered a few weeks ago, this was my grandpa's favorite chair, I am very happy with the way it came out, the fabric is very thick linen.

we also bought a few "new" vintage chairs (the darker wooden ones on the right)  to add to the other mismatched chairs around our dining table

and some new random photos of the kitchen shelves I took this morning, here are the plates...again...the colorful one is sooooo pretty, it's a Kim Parker design. They are both from HomeGoods.

Veggie Garden Part Two AND new work

Lots of stuff is coming up in the garden and it's really very exciting, here are some photos of the veggie garden today (remember it here??)

I built a cucumber trellise and a pole bean tepee today

The tomato plants are also in place and although there was a frost this week they are looking OK, I was so worried!
Here is another glimpse of the flower garden, it will be a lot prettier next month when everything will be in bloom, you can see my favorite relaxing spot, the old hammock in back.

and now for some new work!
This isn't new but I took some new photos of the bird cages this week, here is one sitting on my work table, I will be making a NEW smaller version very soon.

a new little cute Rose Brooch

A new bohemian, romantic Necklace in  long and short versions, it quickly became a favorite of mine, I made one for myself and wore out to the Jazz festival here in Burlington yesterday, here is the LONG one

and the SHORT version, which sits right at the neck, it can also be ordered on a soft blue or old pink satin ribbon.

and finally a new cosmetic pouch in bright red with avocado lining
