Fresh work and Bobby Pins

I love Bobby Pins and wear them all the time, some might think, what is a 50 year old woman doing wearing Bobby pins, but I don't care, I love the funky look....
I finally decided to make some of my own and add them the shop,so here they are fresh out of the studio. Like the packaging? I used my Moo cards as the base and they come  wrapped in a bright yellow box all ready to give as a gift,I think they can be really cool to give out as favors at a birthday party too...

Ponytail holders are soon to follow...

Party planning

I know, I've been neglecting my blog lately,believe me I am so sorry and feel very guilty...but, sometimes life takes over and I am in the midst of hosting my in laws, soon to be hosting more family and by the end of next week every flat surface in this house will be occupied with a guest....I must say though, I do love it! I get into it, I try to stay calm, I find myself going with the flow and for a control freak like me, it's very good exercise! but truly what else can you do with 6 children ages 7-18 and 6 adults???
Yesterday we finished putting together a food list for the party, I won't bore you with all the little details but since it is a garden party at 4pm I will mainly be doing coffee and cake with a few hors d'oeuvres  including a wonderful local Vermont cheese platter. Some of the  cakes will include a strawberry tart and apricot tart,plum cake,brownies, almond cookies,cupcakes (I am ordering those and a birthday cake from a local pastry shop).
I also bought some amazing fabric on sale at the fabric store, 4 different  kinds of beautiful flowery chintzes, I will mix them all up and hopefully will manage to create the look I want.
In the meantime I used some of the fabric I bought to make some new pouches for the shop, I sell them individually and cheaper as a set.

I also made some new rings that are a lot of fun, I used vintage beads and pieces of old charms, I love these ring bases they are made from real sturdy brass and are sooo romantic...

So, it's official I now have a new set of Notecards in my shop.
I have been getting lots of requests and many questions about my photographs and will now carry sets of my images in the store.
The first series is of images is from my studio,I hope you like them...the back is blank ready for your lovely words and they come with white envelopes and ties with bright pink ribbon and beads.

Garden talk

Today is so wonderfully warm, we officially begun the season by hanging the laundry outside, I can never get enough of that fantastic smell the laundry has when it dries out in the sun, Ahhhhh.....I hope we never have to use the dryer again until next fall!

Jonathan (my 17 year old) and I spent all afternoon in the garden yesterday planting pots with herbs and flowers, tomorrow we will finish the kitchen garden, I learned a lot from last years experience and will dedicate a separate patch for the tomatoes and bean tepee this year, last year they grew so big they completely took over!

I also covered the outdoor table with a bright orange piece of oilcloth and it is now our favorite place to sit:

and finally I made a few more of the Garden totes for my shop and noticed how similar it is to one of my favorite paintings by my mother:

Busy busy

In the last few weeks I got tons of wholesale orders, although it's very hard work I really enjoy it, but these last few days I worked so hard finishing two giant orders it was crazy...But, it's done!! I am so happy about it, tomorrow I am going for a long walk and then I think I'll go downtown, walk around and have lunch at my favorite Sushi place, yey!!!

We have a super busy month in front of us ,my parents in law are coming for a visit from Israel on the 22nd and my brother and sister in law with my three sweet nieces are coming as well , they are here in the states traveling.
We are having a Garden party in June to celebrate our youngest sons Bar mitzvah, so lots of planing ahead. I am basically doing most of it on my own, some of my girlfriends will help and I'll be ordering some things as well, it's a tea party ,cakes...tarts...cookies... cupcakes, we are decorating the garden with a mix of colorful Chinese lanterns, silk flowers with ribbons, giant tissue paper flowers hanging from the trees and a mix of flower printed tablecloths, Cath Kidston fancy paper plates in different prints mix in with big white ones,the whole thing will be a bit  funky and a little different,he keeps reminding me not to make it too girly...I promise I won't have anything pink...gulp...no really, I chose aqua,orange,yellow and green.
And...if it rains will be moving the whole thing indoors and I decided I will NOT get upset, after all we ARE living in Vermont....

Charmed

Today was a rainy day, the kids were off to friends,Ronen is writing a documentary film proposal, I spent the morning doing endless house work and walking in circles around my work table unable to sit down although I have a bunch of wholesale orders to finish, I'll do them tomorrow, today I really felt the urge to make something new and this is what came out, two hopelessly romantic  Charm bracelets...where does this come from? I have no idea...
